Nazara Technologies, a well-known name in India’s gaming industry, has recently announced the launch of a new game publishing division called Nazara Publishing. The primary goal of this dedicated division is to bring high-quality games to both the Indian and international gaming markets. To achieve this, the company plans to collaborate with a variety of Indian and global game developers. The objective is to adapt and introduce these games to India’s growing gaming community, while also facilitating the global publication of games created by Indian developers. This initiative is expected to make a significant impact on the gaming landscape in India, with promises of substantial investment and support for game developers.

In addition to the launch of Nazara Publishing, the company has also made significant financial commitments to support game developers. Each game will receive a minimum investment of INR 1 crore, with plans to release up to 20 games within the next 18 months. The support provided by Nazara goes beyond financial assistance, as it includes comprehensive help in areas such as game design, localization, data analytics, beta testing, quality assurance, and improved monetization strategies. Developers will also have access to mentorship from industry leaders and experts within the Nazara Publishing platform.

He highlighted their dedication to offering resources, expertise, and a robust network to deliver top-quality gaming experiences to India’s extensive audience, with a particular emphasis on promoting Indian game developers on a global scale.

Nazara Technologies operates as a gaming and sports media platform, with a presence not only in India but also in emerging global gaming markets. The company’s portfolio includes interactive gaming, eSports, ad-tech, and gamified early learning ecosystems.

However, in the midst of these developments, the Indian government has taken bold steps to improve tax compliance within the online gaming industry. A new GST law imposing a 28% tax from October 1 now requires foreign online gaming firms to register in India. This new tax structure has led to several online gaming platforms temporarily ceasing their operations, indicating that the Indian gaming ecosystem is currently undergoing a transformative phase.
