Jason Koon Makes History with Triton Poker Series Win

Renowned poker professional Jason Koon has made history by becoming the first player to win titles in Hold’em, Short Deck, and Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) at Triton Poker. Koon secured this exceptional achievement at the Triton Poker Series Monte Carlo 2023, where he took home the victory in the $25K PLO Turbo event, earning a prize of $365,000.

This win marks Koon’s 10th title at Triton Poker Series, setting a record as the first player to win titles in Hold’em, PLO, and Short Deck. Koon defeated the formidable online PLO player, Eelis Parssinen, in an intense heads-up battle, adding yet another trophy to his already impressive resume.

While Koon did not flourish in hold’em events, he showcased his mastery in the PLO event. Reflecting on his win, Koon expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I’m happy to close it up. Every night I go home and I study my play, and I think I played the best I’ve played in a couple of years. It’s bizarre to get wiped out but playing really well.”

Turning the spotlight to the event itself, the $25K PLO Turbo saw a total of 50 entries, with 15 re-entries, amassing a prize pool of $1.25 million. The initial 20-minute levels were later reduced to 15 minutes. Li Tong narrowly missed the money, becoming the bubble boy. The final table featured prominent players such as Sam Greenwood, Laszlo Bujtas, Ren Lin, Tom-Aksel Bedell, Sergio Martinez, and Joao Vieria.
